Ostensibly, the show mocks hipsters, but the characters on the show aren’t the headband-wearing, disenchanted chain-smokers so often found on the L. Instead, they’re twenty-somethings with limited social and professional responsibilities trying to figure out what to do with themselves. Their aesthetic sensibilities and attempts to understand coolness remind me a lot of my friends and me.
