On Fridays, I get five auto-generated emails. Along with the regulars—Word of the Day and Very Short List—I receive three others: Nonsense NYC, Times Select Preview and MTA Weekend Advisory. This is lame, but this morning while eating oatmeal in the pajamas I had put back on after going for a run and taking a shower, I was looking forward to the impersonal emails that will arrive in my inbox today.
