Growing with an artist for a mom, I knew from an early age how important it is to show up at openings.
Being creative means being alone a lot. When you’re a doctor, a lawyer, a sneaker salesman, there are people around you all the time to tell you you’re doing a great job. But when you’re building an idea–a song, a painting, an animation–there are few opportunities for your craft to get any appreciation.
So as an adult, I’ve tried to support the arts, and go whenever my friends have made something. But lately, I’ve been lucky. The stuff my friends make is actually pretty great.
